Okay why is the butler in the Aristocats considered a villan? Madame was going to leave her entire fortune to her cats. Yes, after they died Edgar was next in line, but what the fuck? She couldn’t have done half and half, or figured out the cost for the cats and set that portion aside? She wasn’t going to give him anything up front? I suppose it was greedy of Edgar to first ditch the cats and then try to kill them, but can you blame him? Think of how much money Madame had. And when she dies, the Butler’s job dies with her. You’re telling me I get to be broke and job hunt for 15+ years until some damn cats die, when I could retire early and live a wealthy life? While I think the situation could have been handled better, I really can’t say I blame Edgar at all. Would you ditch cats in the wilderness for thousands upon thousands of dollars?
I suppose he is considered a villan because of the way he handled things. He was meant to be a Disney villan; his character was meant to be evil. However, I don’t consider myself evil, and had I been put in that situation I may have done something similar. For instance, I would offer someone a generous amount of money from the will to keep the cats safe for the remainder of their lives. Shit with the money from the will, I could have done a lot of things to keep them safe. Regardless, I can’t even blame him for doing what he did. While it was a little extreme, think of the circumstances he was under.
